Clear Tray Aligner Systems

Aligners consist of a series of clear plastic removable appliances that move your teeth in small increments. Aligner products combine your dentist’s diagnosis and prescription with sophisticated computer graphics technology to develop a treatment plan which specifies desired movements of your teeth during the course of your treatment. Upon approval of the treatment plan developed by your dentist, a series of customised aligners are produced specifically for your treatment.

At Hunjan Dental Practice we use several systems such as Invisalign, Orthocaps, C-thru Smile and Reveal, the treatment for you will depend on your needs and expectations.

The Process

1. You will undergo a pre-treatment assessment including x-rays and photographs.
2. Your dentist will take impressions of your teeth or alternatively do a scan of the teeth and send the information along with a prescription to the aligner laboratory.
3. The lab technicians will follow your doctor’s prescriptions to create a 3D imagery software model of your prescribed treatment.
4. Upon approval by your dentist and yourself of these images, a series of aligners are produced specifically for your treatment.  The number of aligners generated, and duration of treatment will vary depending on the complexity of your dentist’s prescription. The aligners are numbered and will be dispensed by your dentist.
5. Aligners must be worn 22 hours a day otherwise the treatment may be unsuccessful. They can only be removed to eat, drink and brush your teeth and must be replaced as soon as such tasks are completed.
6. Follow up appointments will be advised by your dentist and may be based around how well you adjust to the trays. On some occasions bonded aesthetic attachments or elastics may be necessary to facilitate specific movements. Additional aligners may be necessary for any refinements towards the end of treatment.
